Berbice man arrested after leading Police to stolen items
A resident of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne Berbice was on Thursday arrested after he had reportedly stolen one Stihl motor blower and ten packs of chemicals from a rice farmer.
The larceny reportedly occurred at some time between 12:00h on Wednesday and 8:00h on Thursday in the backlands of Crabwood Creek.
Police have said the 38-year-old rice farmer plies his trade in the Crabwood Creek area, and normally leaves his machines and other equipment in the backdam. However, during the date and time mentioned, the farmer left the said items and went home, but upon his return, he observed the items missing.
Acting on information received, Police contacted the 48-year-old suspect, who admitted to stealing the items. He then led Police to a location in Moleson Creek, Corentyne, where the items were recovered.
He has been arrested, and is expected to be charged shortly.
