Beyonce’s publicist to deliver key address at women’s conference
For the third consecutive year, WeLead Caribbean, a Guyanese-based non-profit organisation, will be hosting its annual conference under the theme “Transition from Inspiration to Action” and American superstar, Beyonce’s publicist will be there to deliver the keynote address.
At the launch of the event on Wednesday, President of the organisation, Abbigale Lonke explained that the conference was developed with the intent of empowering women to get out of their comfort zones and take up roles as leaders to effect the necessary changes in society.
To help women realise their worth, the organisation reached out to Beyonce’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, who will be one of the featured presenters at the forum set for September 18 to 19 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
While urging women to support the event, Lonke said, “She [Noel-Schure] has been Beyonce’s publicist since Beyonce was 14…she’s basically done everything in terms of representing Beyonce’s products, her lines, her business and also for Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams…if we have a woman who has been moulding the biggest celebrity in the world right now, coming here to impart knowledge to us and to just give back to us during the two days of our conference, I honestly think that is huge”.
Noel-Shure, who is the owner of Shure Media Group, has already noted how excited she is to be visiting Guyana for the first time and moreover to speak at such an event. In addition to her, the First Ladies of Jamaica, Patricia Allen and Guyana, Sandra Granger will be addressing the gathering as well as the US Ambassador, Sarah Ann-Lynch.
International speakers will also be at the forum to deliberate on how to “outperform no matter the circumstances”, and “applying your emotional intelligence to leadership” among others.
Tickets for the event cost $15,000 and will be available at the Eco For Life store on North Road, Georgetown, and 592 Tees in the Courtyard Mall.
Abbigale Lonke was one of four Guyanese selected to take part in former US President Barack Obama’s 2016 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI). She has since become the Chief Executive Officer of Community Health Care.
The YLAI is a one-month programme hosted in the US where young people from across the globe connect with mentors to develop ideas to benefit their respective countries, as was pointed out by the American Embassy’s Public Affairs Officer, Amanda Cauldwell.
Following her success in the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, Lonke was granted an opportunity to host a project or programme in Guyana. She decided to host a workshop geared towards women empowerment in April 2016.
Following its success, she opted to continue the initiative to help women develop their inner abilities.
