Black Bush Polder triple murder: Father, son among 4 to go on trial Monday

A father and son are among four men who will go on trial from Monday for the July 2016 murders of 37-year-old Pawan Chandradeo; his son, Jaikarran Chandradeo, 15; and his brother-in-law Naresh Rooplall, 33.
Murder accused Carlton Chaitram, also known as ‘Lyma’, 40; his son Jairam Chaitram, 20; Tameshwar Jagmohan, otherwise known as ‘Guana’, 21, and 30-year-old Rakesh Karamchand, called ‘Go-To-Front’, all of Berbice, were arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Sandil Kissoon and a jury at the Berbice High Court.
The quartet denied three counts of murder. It is alleged that between July 20 and 21, 2016 in Berbice, they murdered the two men and the teen boy. Their trial will commence on Monday when State prosecutor Abigail Gibbs calls her first witness.
The lifeless bodies of the Chandradeos and Rooplall were found days after they left their homes to go on a fishing trip in Black Bush Polder, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne). Their bodies bore one gunshot wound each.
Autopsies revealed that Pawan Chandradeo, his son, and their relative died as a result of shock and haemorrhage. It was reported that the men were shot with a shotgun. (G1)
