Body of man fished out of Carifesta Avenue trench

The body of an unidentified male was on Monday morning fished out of a trench in the vicinity of the Guyana Defence Force on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown. At the time of the discovery, the corpse was shirtless and was clad in a pair of black jeans.
The discovery was made just after 07:00h, during the rush hour, and would have attracted a large crowd.
However, up to late Monday afternoon, the body was yet to be identified.
According to Commander of ‘A’ Division, Leslie James, the body bore marks of violence, which suggest that foul play was involved.
The deceased is suspected to be in his late 30s. His body was taken to the Lyken’s Funeral Home to await identification and post mortem. A probe is currently underway.
