Boundary-filled encounter expected as Tallawahs battle TKR

Hero CPL 2018 Match 12…
Fresh off a record run chase, defending Hero Caribbean Premier League champs Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) come up against the in-form Jamaica Tallawahs in a highly-anticipated clash at the Fort Lauderhill Ground, Florida on Sunday, August 19.

Oshane Thomas

Each side having demonstrated their power-hitting abilities over the course of the competition, TKR will certainly have their tails up following their gunning down of a 200-plus run record total a few nights ago. The orchestrators of that heist were Darren Bravo and Brendon McCullum, who mauled the St Lucia Stars’ bowlers to end on 96 and 68 respectively.

Darren Bravo

Against a strong Tallawahs bowling attack, with leg-spinner Adam Zampa, Pakistan’s Imad Wasim, Guyanese off-spinner Steven Jacobs, Samuel Badree, along with their two main weapons in Oshane Thomas and left-arm veteran Krishmar Santokie, Trinbago would want more from their top three.

Ross Taylor

While Sunil Narine remains an X-factor with the ball and bat, it is the form of Chris Lynn that will worry TKR, as the Aussie power-hitter has misfired on a few occasions but could turn his luck around playing in home-like conditions.
Colin Munro, with a couple of CPL tons under his belt and a few starts this season, will need to kick on batting at three, along with the veteran Denesh Ramdin, who remains a key figure in the middle.
With the six-hitting exhibition Bravo and McCullum put on a few nights ago, TKR would want to see the left-handed pocket rocket and the former New Zealand skipper — who has one of the fastest Test hundreds — pick up from where they left off days ago.

Brendon McCullum

The Champs’ bowling flaws were exposed by the Stars, with skipper Dwayne Bravo’s economy rate climbing in T20s as he leaked runs, while Speedster Shannon Gabriel, medium-pacer Javon Searles, USA fast bowler Ali Khan, Australian spinner Fawad Ahmed and Narine will all have roles to play with the ball for TKR.
Jamaica can breathe easy, as their batting has been clicking in a huge way, with the flashy South African Glenn Phillips and his partner Kennar Lewis both having runs under their bat, while former New Zealand Captain Ross Taylor, Rovman Powell and Russell are all in dangerous hitting form.
Coupled with their wide array of quality bowling, the former champs will fancy this encounter, as a high volume of boundaries is expected to rain at the Lauderhill Park Ground when these two powerhouse franchises collide from 18:00h. (Clifton Ross)
