Boxer Allicock claims Guyana’s 1st Medal

Guyana’s first medal the Commonwealth Youth Games 2017, in the Bahamas came courtesy of Boxer Keevin Allicock who copped silver in his Boy’s 52Kg Flyweight category.
Allicock missed out on the gold medal when we was defeated by England’s David James who won the three round bout by 5 points to nil.

After defeating Canadian Jordan Mathieu in his semi-final on Saturday, Allicock was guaranteed of winning atleast silver with a chance to cop gold.
Allicock’s way to the final was fairly smooth as he defeated Irish man Kian Bittles by winning 4 points to Bittles’ 1.
In the semi-final Allicock who fights out of the Forgotten Youth Foundation gym notched up 5 straight points again Mathieu to go through to the finals.
