Business School, Queen’s College suffer defeats

The 33rd annual Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket tournament, currently underway in St Michael, Barbados, has seen both Queen’s College and the Business School suffering losses in the most recent matches they have played.

Bedesh Persaud bagged 5-41 in a losing effort for Queen’s College

Although having had some success in this tournament, Queen’s College suffered a stunning defeat at the hands of the Alleyne School in a match played at Brighton.
Taking first strike in the match, the Alleyne School posted 197-9 in the allotted 40 overs. Their top-scorers were Hans Campbell, with 74; Roland Husbands, with 46; and Achilles Browne, with 31.
Chief wicket-taker for Queen’s College was Bhedesh Persaud, with 5-41.

The Business School’s Ushardeva Balgobin top-scored with 18 and bagged 2-48, but could not take his side over the proverbial line

Needing 198 for the win, the QC side were skittled out for a mere 83, scored in 29.5 overs; thus they lost the match by 114 runs. Navindra Persaud, with 12, top-scored for the QC side, which crumbled under the bowling pressure of Shamar Marshall (4-14), Jechoni Holder (2-20) and D’Angelo Springer (2-22).
Having registered their first win in this tournament on Monday, the Business School could not repeat that performance when they locked horns with St Leonard’s Boys School at Content.
Batting first, St Leonard’s posting 167 all out in 31.2 overs. Their principal scorers were Corey Hoyte (23), Tremaine Dowrich (18), Jai Clarke (17), Coshon Scott (16), Jaron Riley (14), Tauron Gibson (11), and Todd Miller (10).
Bowling for the Business School, Tathesh Shivrattan took 3-34, Christopher Harry took 3-38, Marlon Boele took 2-6, and Ushardeva Balgobin took 2-48.
Needing a simple total of 168 for their second victory, the Business School were bundled out for 96 in 25.1 overs, losing the match by 71 runs.
Ushardeva Balgobin, with 18; Christopher Harry, with 15; Joel Gilkes, with 13 not out; and Jamel Montel, with 12, all made positive starts for the Business School; but the School could not carry on.
Bowling for St Leonard’s, Tremaine Dowrich took 6-14.
