Businessman succumbs 6 weeks after being shot by bandits

Robinson’s General Store at Drysdale and Lombard Streets, Georgetown

The owner of Robinson’s General Store at the corner of Drysdale and Lombard Streets, Georgetown, who was shot by two men in front of his business premises, has succumbed.
70-year-old Lennox Robinson of Lot 55 South Ruimveldt Park died on Monday at about 16:00h in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) some six weeks after he was shot.
His body is presently at the GPHC’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination (PME).
On September 2, 2020, at about 12:10h, the 70-year-old businessman, who is a licensed firearm holder, was sitting on a chair in front of his establishment when he was confronted by the two men.
According to Police, an argument quickly ensued and escalated into a physical altercation, during which the businessman was relieved of his firearm and shot by one of the suspects.
The businessman fell to the ground, and the suspects picked up his firearm and made good their escape on a bicycle.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness had told this publication that the two men, who were armed with knives, walked up to the businessman, and a scuffle ensued. They were soon able to overpower him and pushed him to the ground.
The source said one of the suspects immediately grabbed the businessman’s gun and shot him. The eyewitness said one of the men was clad in a red hoodie, while the other had covered his face with a white shawl.
No one has been arrested, but investigations are ongoing. (G1)
