“CAC was good preparation for year-end competition” – Campbell

Bronze medallist at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships, Emmerson Campbell says this year’s tournament held in Mexico has played a huge role in the preparations for his upcoming assignment in November.

The Guyanese body-builder told Guyana Times Sport on Thursday during an exclusive interview that he was happy to have again represented his country with honour and success despite not winning the gold medal.
“The experience was great; I missed gold by a point, but third place was really close. Overall, it was very close, but I was thankful that I managed to raise the bar; even though I didn’t win, I managed to improve my physique,” Campbell said.
The long-time Sports Journalist has been representing Guyana at the CAC level for three years now, and he noted that this year was no different as he was happy to add more international tournaments to his collection. Guyana’s four-member team finished with two gold medals and a bronze, with Selvon Bruce Whatley winning gold in the Masters and Middleweight categories and Campbell capturing the bronze medal in the M. Physique.
“This is the third time I competed at CAC level, the backstage and camaraderie was great, but I can’t wait to get back in the gym. My next competition is November 3rd and I’m very confident I’m winning that competition, because the Mexico tournament put a lot of confidence in me and it showed me I belong there.”
The reigning Guyana Physique Champ concluded the interview by highlighting that his work ethic has significantly increased as his quest to dominate the next assignment was his main focus. “Well, I realised my work ethic allows me to be confident. I will continue grinding for my next tournament, which is the Stage of Champions right here in Guyana on November 3rd,” he concluded. (Clifton Ross)
