Mahendra Nagamootoo’s all-round performance was insufficient to prevent Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) from defeating Melbourne New York Alliance by 64 runs, especially as Andy Mohammed and Matthew Lutchman came to the party for the victorious MMZ unit.

Winning the toss and batting first, Meten-Meer- Zorg (MMZ) posted 219 all out in 36.4 overs. Andy Mohammed top-scored with a blistering 63 from 33 balls, including five sixes and five fours. He was supported by Looknauth Chinkoo, who made a 32-ball 36 which was decorated with two fours and two sixes.
Vedesh Singh made 33, and Kelvin Shewprasad’s 20 took MMZ to 219. The former West Indies player Nagamootoo was the pick of the bowlers for Melbourne New York Alliance, with 3-27 in seven overs, including one maiden. Fuse Azees and Ryan Girdharry had two wickets each.
In reply, Melbourne New York Alliance managed only 155 all out, with Nagamootoo top-scoring with 37 from 36 balls. His innings included two sixes and one four. He was supported by Al Small (31) and Girdharry (24), but the score was insufficient, as MMZ won by 64 runs.
Matthew Lutchean was the destroyer, ending with 4-23 in 6.2 overs, while Kelvin Shewprasad and Terrence Madramootoo had two wickets each.
