Charlestown, Multi book their spots in Under-14 final

The girls of Charlestown Secondary and the boys of North Ruimveldt Multilateral have secured their places in the ExxonMobil/Petra Under-14 Football league following thrilling semi-final games on Saturday.
Although two of the semi-final matches were postponed because several players had been involved in a Guyana Football Federation camp, players in attendance were pumped and ready to get the ball rolling.
The young ladies of Charlestown and New Campbellville Secondary were the first to take the field in Saturday’s double semi-final action. Their match-up was nothing short of nail biting, with a number of attempts being scooped up by the more- than-capable goal keepers.
Driven by determination, the young ladies gave their all, but often saw their cunning plays fall through at the last moment. With the score locked at nil all, the decision was made to go into extra time, but even a few additional minutes could not determine who would advance to the final round.
Following both team’s failure to score in extra time, a penalty shootout became the deciding factor in the electrifying encounter. It was then that the Charlestown girls took their opportunity, connecting each penalty to the back of the net.

“It was challenging between us and Campbellville, but they played nice. It feels wonderful to go into the finals,” Charlestown captain Donna Lowe stated after the win.
Subsequently, North Ruimveldt Multilateral took on St. John’s College in the first male semifinal. The encounter got off to a heated start, with Multi’s striker taking a shot at the goal within the first two minutes. Their upbeat attitude led them to a goal early on in the first quarter. Little did they know that would be the winning goal of the match.
Highlighting that a few of their players were not able to play in Saturday’s match up, goal scorer Shaquan Favorite was of the opinion that the team performed to the best of their ability. “It was challenging, but I felt the team did well,” Favorite stated.
This enthusiastic team is confident it can match skills with either of the two teams scheduled for the next semi-final.
Both Charlestown and North Ruimveldt Multilateral will have to wait until Tuesday’s staging of the two remaining semi-final matches to determine whom they will meet in the final, come next Saturday, June 21.
