The Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) will host another staging of the Dem Life Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 15, as Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society continues its longstanding commitment to the development and promotion of golf in Guyana.
The tournament is scheduled to tee off at 12:30h, following an assembly time of 12:15h, with competitors set to play 18 holes under the medal-play format.
Speaking at a simple presentation ceremony, DemLife Sales and Marketing Manager Dave Persaud reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting sporting activities and its partnership with the Lusignan Golf Club.
“At DemLife, we always support sporting activities. Golf has been a developing sport in Guyana, and we always aim to give back at every opportunity. We saw partnering with LGC as a way of our corporate social responsibility, as we have done in the past with the club. Hence, we are continuing the tradition,” Persaud said.

Golfers will compete in three handicap flights: 0–12, 13–18 and 19–28, with first-place prizes up for grabs in each category. Additional prizes will be awarded for the Senior Flight, provided there are at least three participants.
Competitors will also vie for the Overall Best Net, Best Gross, Nearest to the Pin on hole eight, and Longest Drive on hole one.
The partnership between Demerara Mutual and the LGC has deep roots, with the company having sponsored tournaments at the club for decades. Historical records show Demerara Mutual-sponsored events dating back to at least the 1990s, while in 2016 the company was recognised for having supported golf in Guyana for nearly 25 years.
The partnership has remained strong in recent years, with the Dem Life Golf Tournament returning in 2025. Patrick Prashad emerged victorious in last year’s tournament after recording a gross score of 76 and a net score of 66.
Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society, commonly known as DemLife, was incorporated under Ordinance 19 of 1891 and has more than 130 years of experience in the insurance industry. The company provides a range of life insurance solutions aimed at helping individuals and families safeguard their financial futures, including whole-life, endowment, critical illness, mortgage protection and universal life plans.
Beyond its role as a corporate sponsor, DemLife’s continued investment in golf provides an important platform for competition, networking and camaraderie among golfers, corporate partners and members of the wider community.
The LGC is anticipating a competitive field as players seek honours across the various handicap flights and special prize categories.
The club has also expressed appreciation to Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society for its continued partnership and commitment to supporting golf and sporting development in Guyana.
