At Tuesday’s team briefing and distribution ceremony at the Ministry of Education Ground, Demerara Mutual’s Sales and Marketing Coordinator, Oceola van Doimen, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to protecting young athletes.
The partnership adds to the support for a competition that brings secondary school students together while promoting teamwork and discipline on and off the field.
Petra Organisation Co-Director Troy Mendonca praised teachers for their role in supporting students’ development. He acknowledged their contribution to helping young people progress both in sport and beyond the playing field.
Republic Bank Marketing Analyst Grace Hitnarine also addressed the participants, encouraging them to develop sound financial habits. Her presentation, titled “Dollars and Sense”, highlighted the importance of financial literacy in preparing young people for the future.
Chase Academic Foundation will be joined by fellow Region Four schools Annandale Secondary, Charlestown Secondary, West Ruimveldt Secondary and St Joseph High School.
Santa Rosa Secondary will represent Region One, while Three Miles Secondary and New Amsterdam Secondary will compete from Regions Seven and Six, respectively.
The eight teams will pursue one title over the seven-week competition, with the organisers also placing emphasis on the wider lessons students can gain through their involvement in football.
