Meanwhile, Bishop’s High claimed the second- and third-formers’ title after defeating Westminster Secondary in the J S Lewis Challenge Trophy final.
Bishop’s High batted first and reached 49 for one from their allotted overs, led by Aryan Persaud’s 16 runs. Westminster, in response, struggled to build momentum and were restricted to 22 for three, with Anthony Hoyte top-scoring with six runs.
Persaud also impressed with the ball, taking two wickets for eight runs, and was rewarded with the prizes for both best batsman and best bowler in the competition.
Organisers described the tournament as highly competitive, noting that matches throughout both divisions were closely contested. Appreciation was also extended to the participating schools for their involvement in the event.
Attention will now shift to the upcoming “One Guyana Independence Cup” for secondary school boys, which is expected to be sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport later this month.
