Drone delivers medical supplies to Moraikobai Health Centre

The Health Ministry has successfully delivered essential medical supplies to the Moraikobai Health Centre along the Mahaicony River, Region 5 using drone technology, advancing efforts to improve healthcare access in remote communities.
The delivery, which took place over the weekend, forms part of the Government’s ongoing initiative to use technology to strengthen healthcare services and address logistical challenges faced by hinterland and riverine areas. According to the Ministry, the drone-enabled delivery demonstrates the potential of modern technology to overcome geographical barriers and ensure that medicines and other critical supplies reach communities in a timely manner.

Health officials noted that the use of drones could significantly improve healthcare logistics, particularly during emergencies and in areas where transportation is often affected by distance, difficult terrain, or adverse weather conditions. The Ministry said integrating drone technology into the healthcare supply chain is expected to enhance service delivery, reduce response times, and improve access to essential healthcare resources for residents in remote communities.
