Similarly, Matthew came up short behind his cousin on two occasions but used his Yamaha R6 to speed to first place in his final race in a time of 1:07.724.

When Guyana Times Sport spoke to Matthew he expressed great satisfaction with his performance considering the fact he faced difficulty with the rainy weather. The ace rider also revealed that he has now moved into pole position for the champion rider after entering this round in second place, just 17 points behind cousin Stephen, who failed to pose a challenge due to suffering a hand injury the qualifying rounds.

On the four-wheel aspect of the championship, defending champion Guyana, had a satisfactory outing, despite their two competitors for this leg, Shan Seejattan and Nazim Gafoor faced some car troubles.

Group two driver, Seejanttan copped two fourth places and a fourth in a group four race; during his last race the right front-wheel of his Honda Civic ran slack, prematurely ending his participation.

On the other hand, Gafoor used his Mazda Miata to secure a third place finish in group three with a time of 1:19.273; he also finished in fourth and fifth respectively in other races.

The group four action saw Barbadian Mark Maloney taking the chequered flag in the 3rd and final Group 4 race of the day. Based on reports, it was a hard fought race, never easing the pace off of countryman Barry Mayers who won both of the previous races in the group. Maloney got the break and went for it. Barry, trying to overtake to regain the lead and get the hat trick, spun and never regained the opportunity

In the Suzuki Challenge Series SR3 Kristian Jeffrey won the last radical race in a time of 1:00.442 while finishing in second and fifth place in the second and first races respectively.

Mark Vieira got a second in the second race, clocking a time of 1:09.465 while Calvin Ming secured a fourth place finish in the second race with a time of 1:00.887.

Heading into the third leg, the overall points standing saw Trinidad and Tobago leading with 799 points, followed by Jamaica on 465 and Guyana on 276 points. Barbados and Cayman Islands round off the table with 202 and 60 points respectively. However, there was no confirmation on the new points standing up to press time.
