As Guyana prepares for the Miss World competition later in the year, plans are already moving afoot to make sure that it has the best contestant to participate in the event. As such, several young ladies in and out of Guyana were shortlisted as quarter-finalists to compete in the local pageant.
The pageant is set for May 2020.
Majesty International, the official licence holders of the Miss World franchise, is now accelerating a global restructuring programme to build on the progress the Miss World brand has made in executing social programmes to best serve the Guyanese community on a long-term basis.
The restructuring will also give the organisation opportunities to foster personal and professional growth among young people and create marketing opportunities to bring differentiated value and innovation to related industries.
To ensure the candidates are given a better chance at competing at the national and international level, the organisation will be giving them more time to prepare by introducing a preparatory period whereby candidates would gain the confidence that is required to become the face of Guyana.
A longer preparation period would build more visibility, add value, boost confidence, and build character and the resilience for each journey to be more meaningful. Adding to the preparation period, the organisation is currently finalising a multimillion-dollar prize package including a cash prize of $1million for the Miss World Guyana 2020 including USA & UK/EUROPE media tour, promoting Guyana and Guyanese brands internationally.
