ction in the Wolf’s Challenge Softball Cup continued on Sunday last with Floodlights mauling Parika Defenders in a one-sided match by 194 runs at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas Lands.

Batting first in the 20 overs a- side match, left handed opener Yunnis ‘White-Boy’ Yusuf struck a masterful 120 as Floodlights posted an imposing 286-7 from their quota of overs. In the century knock, Yusuf blasted 15 fours and 12 sixes. Yusuf was well supported by Ramesh Narine 47, Patrick Khan 45 and Wayne Jones 36 on their way to the massive total.

In response, Parika Defenders were sent packing for a paltry out for 92 in just 69 deliveries. Defenders only double figure score came off the bat of A. Kumar who only managed 20 as the Floodlight bowlers enjoyed a field day.

Dharam Persaud, Richard Khellawan, Wayne Jones and Clyde Canterbury picked up two wickets a piece.

In the first match of the day, Mike’s Wellman dismantled Bel Air Rubis on their way to a six wicket victory. Batting first, Bel Air Rubis compiled 141, all out, one ball short of their allotted overs. Top scoring for the service station boys were B. Mulla who contributed 29 and Danny Mohanram, scoring 23.

Greg De Franca snared 3-18, Ron Ramnauth 3-29 were the pick of the Wellman bowlers while Eon Lovell carted 2-24.

The Wellman team raced to 145-4 with Latchman Kallicharran scoring 57 and the consistent Lloyd Rooplall 50. S. Sankar was the only threat bowling his way to two wickets.

At the same venue but in the female division, Trophy Stall Angels blew away Blue Divas by 88 runs. Trophy Stall Angels struck 201-3 in 15 overs as Roxanne De Monick slammed 100 from a mere 33 balls.

In that mammoth knock, De Monick struck four fours and 10 sixes while support was provided by Akelo Castello who missed out on a half century, making 46 and Odessa O Neil who scored 28. D Amos returned two scalps.

In reply, Blue Divas could only manage 113-7. M. Taitt made 31 as Amanda Rogers claimed 2-23 and Jenelle Nero 2-25.

Trophy Stall Angels then made it two in two as they managed a four wicket victory against 4R Lioness.

4R Lioness lashed out on their way to 96 all out in 14.1 overs. Akaze Thompson top scored with 28 while T. Wilson contributed 19. Natasha Leacock walked away with figures of 3-25 and Aneesa Persaud chipped in with 2-19.

Trophy Stall Angels chased down the total in just 12.4 overs, losing six wickets for 98 runs. Heema Singh guided the innings with a composed 33 while Thompson returned with the ball to pick up 4-22.

The other match of the day which was played at the Gandhi Youth Organisation, Woolford Avenue with HS Masters defeating Wolf Warriors Masters by 64 runs. HS Masters struck 152-8, as they batted first. Danny Mohanram was the architect of the innings, top scoring with 43 while Basil Badassee smashed 29 and Hackim Majeed scored 19.

In response, Wolf Warriors Masters were left hapless on 88 with all their batsmen back in the shed and just 17.3 overs bowled. Fazlim Bacchus was the only resistance on his way to 32 while the key destroyers were Mahendra Arjune and Hanoman Singh bagged 3-12 and 3-17 respectively.
