Foreign Affairs Minister mulls collaboration in energy, technology with Finland’s Ambassador

Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Finland, His Excellency Pertti Ikonen on Friday called on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Karen Cummings.
Among mutual areas of interest, they discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations and possible collaboration in education, renewable energy and innovative technology.

Minister Cummings expressed her desire for the two countries to collaborate in education, green energy and technology in order to achieve mutual success in these areas.
The Ambassador, in turn, noted that the two countries share a mutual interest in both climate change and gender affairs and could benefit from collaboration in those areas.
His Excellency Ikonen also took the opportunity to meet with Foreign Secretary, the Honourable Carl B Greenidge.
The Finnish Ambassador on Friday concluded a five-day visit to Guyana during which he hosted an event called Doing Business with Finland, a seminar for Guyanese to network and explore new business partnerships from Finland. He also met with a number of other Government officials.
Guyana and Finland established diplomatic relations on April 2, 1979. The two countries often cooperate through the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).
