Friend who allegedly gave man poison tablets released from custody

The friend who allegedly fed his buddy, 46-year-old Gary Sullivan of Lot 4 Duncan Street, Kitty, Georgetown, carbon tablets on Sunday last has been released from Police custody as investigations continue.
This was related to Guyana Times on Saturday by the Commander of A Division (Georgetown/East Bank Demerara, Marlon Chapman.
Sullivan was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital on Sunday last at about 22:00h after he complained to his wife of feeling unwell and began to vomit. He subsequently died.
Commander Chapman informed too that the wife was questioned as investigations continue.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Sullivan’s body on Wednesday by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh was inconclusive. The man’s body was nevertheless handed over to the family for burial.
Reports are the dead man’s wife informed Police that her husband left home at about 11:00h on Sunday and returned about 20:00h with a bottle of tablets which were supposed to be ‘Garlic Extra 1000mg’.
The wife told detectives that her husband told her the pills were given to him by a friend for relief of gas pain.
Sullivan later consumed the tablets and at about 22:00h he began to vomit. The alarmed woman said she immediately contacted the ambulance service and he was rushed to the hospital, but passed away while receiving medical attention at the facility around 00:45h on Monday.
The bottle and contents were taken to the hospital by the deceased’s wife where it was discovered the pill bottle contained carbon tablets.
