The Barbados U13 Cricket Team emerged victorious in their five-match series against Guyana, clinching a 3-2 win as the tour concluded on Friday at the Everest Cricket Ground.
The closely contested series formed part of an ongoing youth cricket development exchange programme between the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA), aimed at fostering regional cooperation and nurturing young talent across the Caribbean.
At the presentation ceremony, President of GCB, Bissoondyal Singh, praised the players and highlighted the broader significance of the series to West Indies cricket development.

You have demonstrated tremendous skill, courage, discipline, and teamwork over the past several days.”
Singh also expressed appreciation to the visiting team and the Barbados Cricket Association for their collaboration and commitment to youth cricket.
“On behalf of the Guyana Cricket Board, I extend sincere thanks to the Barbados Cricket Association for their willingness to respond and collaborate in this very important cricket development exchange programme. We also extend our sincere thanks to President Calvin Hope and the Barbados Cricket Association for his support, collaboration, and commitment to this important youth cricket initiative. This partnership reflects the strength of regional cooperation and our shared commitment to nurturing young talent.”
Emphasising the importance of such initiatives within the regional framework, he noted the role these tournaments play in shaping future West Indies cricketers.
“This tournament, and others like it, stands at the very heart of the West Indies cricket development pathway – where young talent is identified, nurtured, and guided toward representing our region with pride.”
He encouraged all participants to take pride in their efforts and look ahead to future engagements between the two territories.
“As we close this tournament, let us celebrate not just the winners, but all of you – the future ambassadors of Caribbean cricket. Thank you, well done, and we eagerly anticipate seeing you back on the field when we take this exciting journey to Barbados next year.”
The series provided valuable match experience for both teams and reinforced the importance of structured youth competition in strengthening the foundation of Caribbean cricket.
