The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has partnered with the Guyana Oil & Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) to organise the Guyana Energy Conference & Exhibition (GEC-X).
GCCI, in a statement, announced that it is being supported by the Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association (GMSA), the Private Sector Commission of Guyana (PSC) and the Tourism and Hospitality Association (THAG).
The GEC-X is slated for February 14 and 15, 2022. It seeks to embrace full local content in its planning, organising, production and delivery. The partnership of the GCCI with GOGEC, with support from the GMSA, PSC and THAG, creates the first locally organised and executed energy conference in the history of Guyana.
“This watershed moment is buttressed by the conference’s use of local suppliers which will ensure that maximum benefit accrues to the local Private Sector through ensuring in-country value retention. Further, all surplus made from the conference will remain in the coffers of the local Business Support Organisations (BSOs). This will be channelled towards supporting the organisations’ Private Sector development programmes and continued work to lift the standards and capacity of the local Private Sector,” GCCI said.
The organising entities anticipate full support for the conference.
The GEC-X is expected to be held under the theme “Powering the Future”. It is intended to move the energy discussion beyond oil and gas, by bringing together foreign and local investors and the Government in productive engagements to seek collaborations that will lead to transformative energy projects.
