GFF/DBU/UEFA Assist/Women Development League: Pakuri Jaguars ease to first triumph; Police and Fruta Conquerors also win
…Five games on today
As the Guyana Football Federation/Women Development League heats up across the nation, a total of five (5) matches would be contested today at three venues.
Pakuri Jaguars of St. Cuthbert’s Mission, fresh off their first win on Thursday afternoon last, will hope to build on that momentum when they host the Essequibo All-Stars from the Cinderella County at the St. Cuthbert’s Mission Ground from 16:00hrs.
The GFF NTC at Providence will be the hub of attraction for a double-header from 13:00hrs, when Coomacka United from the bauxite- mining town of Linden would match skills with New Amsterdam United, and, from 15:00hrs, the Guyana Defence Force would be in battle against the Orealla Falcons.
Up at the Bartica Community Centre Ground, the first of two clashes kicks off at 13:00hrs between Bartica All-Stars and Fruta Conquerors, but the main attraction is set to get underway at 15:00hrs between Potaro Strikers and City side Santos.
Meanwhile, three matches were played on Thursday last at two venues. In the lone match at the GFF National Training Centre, there were end-to-end exchanges between Pakuri Jaguars (St Cuthbert Mission) and the Orealla Falcons from Berbice. The former team emerged victorious by a 3-1 margin, coming from behind.
The nippy Fiona Benjamin was in excellent form for the winners, scoring all three goals.
At the Leonora Track and Field Facility on the West Coast of Demerara, the Guyana Police Force FC made light work of West Demerara’s Foxy Ladies, winning 7-0. Police were led by the in-form Annalisa Vincent, who fired in a helmet-trick (four goals). The consistent Tiandi Smith supported well again, this time with a brace, while the other goal came off the boots of another consistent contributor, Siacy Adams.
And Fruta Conquerors have consolidated their place at the top of the points table with another solid display when they defeated fellow city side Santos 11-0. Their leading scorers were Jessica Ronsdale, Shantel Thornhill and Shambala Daniels, who each contributed a brace.
This GFF/Women Development League is supported by the Danish Football Union (DBU) and UEFA Assist.
