The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) recently outlined a number of agreements geared towards the development of the sport in Guyana, following their Contract of Agreed Objectives (CAO).
The information regarding the happenings at the GFF’s May 28 Ordinary Congress saw a number of initiatives and plans being highlighted for football development, along with assistance from head body, FIFA.
Among those areas discussed: emphasis on football at the grassroots level, importance of training for all technical and other staff, to upgrade a venues, to construct a GFF national training centre, the acquisition of two 30-seater buses among other areas.

The GFF in a release regarding their recent meeting noted that they have been unable to access funds from FIFA since 2015. It was further noted that the GFF, FIFA and CONCACAF have been working on rebuilding their ties as Guyana is currently in the process of trying to give the sport a humungous boost.
Such moves have ensured that the GFF can now access the FIFA funds through the FIFA Forward programme. Also, it is expected that within the coming months, the GFF will fully outline ‘Forward Compliance Regulations’ which will be implemented across the football fraternity.
Furthermore, the GFF has confirmed that they are seeking to have the funds released in the weeks to come. Recently, the GFF appointed former player, Jamaican Michael Johnson as Golden Jaguars head coach for the next three years.
