GMR&SC hailed for successful CMRC

It was a 27-event race programme across s two days of intense action and based on reports, there was simply a miniscule of issues at the South Dakota Circuit last weekend for the hosting of the final round of the 2017 Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC).

Mohamed led Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC).
Trinidad and Tobago’s team Manager Nizam Mohamed expressed his appreciation for the works of Hansraj Singh, Cheryl Gonsalves and Desiree Lee. The twin-island republic managed to retain their title but had little participation at South Dakota due to their container arriving late in Guyana and thanked Seaboard Marine for their efforts. Trinidad still managed to compete in one race and also thrilled the fans with their professional drift cars.
Likewise, Barbadian representative Kurt Seabra stated, “ I thought it was a very good race meet and it was timely and for the first time in a lot time, there was no attrition as a lot of cars competed finished their races”.
The Barbadians were also hampered in the Group Four class as ace driver Roger Mayers had an accident which ruled his machine out of the day. However, joy came with eventual 2WD champion Mark Maloney who won his first race at the circuit in 13 years.
Jamaica were a no show regarding their participation but veteran Peter Rae apologised for his team’s absence and promise a full team next year.
Rae thanked all the marshals who did a splendid job despite the hot conditions. He also went unto to say, “Those ladies in the back ground are hidden heroes. I would want Cheryl [ Gonsalves] to be on my management if I become Caribbean Motor Racing Association President next year”.
The first round of the 2018 championships will be held in Trinidad and Tobago in March at the Wallerfield Circuit.
