
The Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” Georgetown Zone continued on Thursday night with the Round of 16 at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac, where hundreds of patrons turned out despite overcast conditions, and defending champions Laing Avenue were knocked out of the competition.
Laing Avenue’s title defence ended with a 1–0 loss to Sparta Boss, one of several closely contested matches on the night. Two fixtures required penalty kicks to determine a winner, with Bent Street B defeating Z-Tekk 2–1 on penalties after a goalless draw, while Leopold edged Albouystown 8–7 in sudden-death penalties following a 1–1 result in regulation time.
In other results, New Bay Ballers secured a narrow 1–0 win over Team Cruel, while Island All-Stars and Festival City also recorded identical 1–0 victories against Broad Street and North East La Penitence, respectively. National All-Stars produced the most dominant display of the round, brushing aside Team Immaculate 4–0, while Gold is Money defeated East Coast All-Stars 3–0 to advance.

With the Round of 16 completed, the competition moves into the quarter-final stage tonight, alongside fixtures in the Plate segment. In the Plate division, North East La Penitence will face Broad Street from 19:00h, followed by Team Immaculate against Team Cruel at 19:30h. East Coast All-Stars will oppose Albouystown at 20:00h, while Laing Avenue meets Z-Tekk at 20:30h.
In the Championship quarterfinals, Festival City will take on Island All-Stars at 21:00h, while National All-Stars face New Bay Ballers at 21:30h. Gold is Money will battle Leopold Street from 22:00h, and Sparta Boss will come up against Bent Street B at 22:30h as teams vie for places in the semi-finals.
