Police in Division Three on Tuesday evening came under fire along the La Grange Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD) after they intercepted a motorcar suspected to have been involved in a robbery.
Based on reports received, a robbery was committed on a 41-year-old resident of John Street Campbelville, Georgetown at around 23:30h on Tuesday at La Grange Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
Guyana Times understands that Police ranks who were on patrol at the time received a report of the robbery, and went to the area, where they intercepted a grey fielder wagon.
Upon approaching the vehicle, one of the occupants discharged a round at the Police vehicle, prompting the ranks to return fire. The ranks subsequently captured one of the suspects, while the other two managed to escape on foot.
The captured suspect, who resides at La Parfaite Harmonie, WBD, has been taken into custody. The vehicle has also been impounded at the Wales Police Station as investigations continue.
