Guyana has accredited its first non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking a step in the country’s diplomatic engagement with the Middle Eastern nation.
According to the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry, Ambassador Safraaz Ahmad Shadood, who currently serves as Guyana’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, presented his letter of credence on Tuesday to Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Majeed Al Smari.
The presentation of credentials formally accredits Ambassador Shadood as Guyana’s non-resident Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Following the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Shadood and Deputy Minister Al Smari held discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Guyana and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen diplomatic relations and expand cooperation between the two countries.
Guyana and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established formal diplomatic relations on February 22, 2012. The accreditation of a non-resident Ambassador represents a further step in advancing those ties and enhancing engagement on matters of mutual interest.
