In another memorable night’s play, Guyana trounced Grenada 97-75 in the Goodwill Basketball Series to claim the second match in the three-match series, when play continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on Saturday evening.
The Guyana side again showed great combination of skill and tactics to prevail in the encounter, Terron Welch registering a game-high 28 points, while Ray Victor was again in the mix of things to produce a valuable 16 points.
For Grenada, Jonathan Williams top scored with 26 points in a losing effort. He was ably assisted by James Andrew, who scored 15 points.
By this win, Guyana have clinched the series, and would likely be aiming for a clean sweep thereof when they play their final match; while Grenada have a chance to register a consolation win in that final.
Guyana prevailed 90-73 in match one, thanks to the 39 points’ efforts of Victor, while Welch and Travis Belgrave chipped in with 19 and 18 points respectively.
This friendly series is a precursor to the 2020 CBC Championships, wherein Guyana will be defending the title they won last year in Suriname.
