Transport Sports Club crush Diplomats by 141 runs
Transport Sports Club (TSC) delivered a commanding performance after Diplomats won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision backfired spectacularly as TSC unleashed a batting onslaught, piling up a massive 278 for one in their allotted 20 overs.
Leading the charge was Jeremiah Hohenkirk, who produced a breathtaking unbeaten 117 from just 51 balls at a staggering strike rate of 229. His innings was decorated with nine fours and 11 towering sixes. He found a formidable partner in West Indies Under-19 batsman Shamar Apple, who smashed an unbeaten 107 from 46 deliveries, striking eight fours and 10 sixes. The pair’s relentless assault left the Diplomats’ bowlers with no answers.
Facing a daunting target, the Diplomats never looked settled in their chase and were restricted to 137 for 8 in their 20 overs. Tyrell Peters provided brief resistance with a rapid 47 from 17 balls, while Germain Douglas added 36 from 42 deliveries. Reyad Latif and John Persaud led TSC’s bowling effort with two wickets each, sealing a crushing 141-run victory.

Guyana Defence Force edge Demerara Cricket Club in low-scoring thriller
In stark contrast, the clash between the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) was a tense, low-scoring encounter. DCC, after winning the toss and opting to bat, struggled against disciplined bowling and was bowled out for just 86 in 13.4 overs. Alphius Bookie top-scored with 32, while Mickel Sharma chipped in with 15.
GDF’s bowlers dominated proceedings, with Nigel Deodat and Colvis Sam both claiming four wickets in a devastating display.
The chase, however, was far from straightforward. GDF stumbled to 89 for eight in 17.4 overs before eventually securing victory by two wickets. Rashaad Gaffur top-scored with 25, while Joshua Ferrell and Zameer Nazeer each contributed 14. Qumar Torrington, Dennis Squires, and Wavell Allen all picked up two wickets apiece to keep DCC in contention, but GDF held their nerve to cross the line.
Everest Cricket Club defeat Guyana National Industrial Company Inc by 34 runs
Everest Cricket Club also secured an impressive win, defeating the Guyana National Industrial Company Inc (GNIC) by 34 runs. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Everest posted a competitive 153 for five in their 20 overs.
Narendra Persaud anchored the innings with a brilliant 72 from 40 balls, striking three fours and six sixes. He received excellent support from Troy Gonsalves, who played a blistering cameo of 45 from just 21 deliveries to lift the scoring rate.
In response, GNIC were bowled out for 119 in 18.1 overs. Opener Stephen Campbell led the scoring with 36 from 31 balls, but regular wickets halted their progress. Gonsalves capped a fine all-round performance with figures of three for 16, while Nityanand Mathura and Javed Rasheed claimed two wickets each to secure the victory.
With dominant displays, nail-biting finishes, and standout individual performances, the Sherwin Williams Seconnd Division T20 Cup delivered an action-packed day of cricket in Georgetown, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
