Kuru Kururu rule the weekend in EBFA Youth Ensemble action

The Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Centre (NTC) at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was a hive of activity over the weekend as the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) braved inclement weather to continue the Youth Ensemble Under-13 and Under-15 matches.
On Saturday, Kuru Kururu Football Club pulled off a massive 7-0 victory against Circuitville Jaguars in the Under-13 competition.

A look at Kuru Kururu’s U-13 goalscorers on Saturday

Immanuel Reid was the marksman to watch, opening the scoring in the 10th minute and going on to register a glut with strikes in the 50th, 51st, 57th and 59th minutes. Adding to their tally was Xavi Griffith in the 22nd minute and Leandre Benjamin in the 42nd minute for the lopsided victory.
Over in the Under-15 division, Friendship Allstars FC made waves with a 10-0 drubbing of Pakuri FC.
Leading the charge was Brandon Bruce, who put on a show on Sunday with a four-goal haul. Bruce later added to his personal tally in the 25th, 60th, and 65th minutes. Dwight Andrews found the back of the net in the 17th minute while Phillip Sealey and Jermain Fraser netted first- half goals in the 30th and 34th minutes.
In the second segment, Malachi Roberts extended the lead in the 54th minute while Anthony Thomas and Akel Joseph scored in the 69th and 70th minutes respectively.
In contrast to their U-13 team, Kuru Kururu fought tooth and nail in a close encounter with Swan FC in the U-15 division.
Teshawn Castello broke the ice in the 17th minute for Kuru Kururu, but Swan’s Kevin Degoeas levelled the scores in the 28th for a 1-1 score at the half.
In the second half, Treymane Morrison (57th), Jamal Boyer (67th) and Romaldo Mendonca (65th) gave Kuru Kururu what was considered an unassailable lead. However, Joel Gillies (69th) and Marcus Andrews (70th) almost pulled off the comeback for Swan FC, but time and fortune were not on their side.
The GFF’s Youth Ensemble programme, being rolled out across Regional Member Associations, is giving youth players consistent opportunities to showcase their skills across different age groups.
While inclement weather affected last weekend’s action in the East Demerara Football Association (East Coast), the Youth Ensemble action is likely to pick up where it left off next weekend.
