A 25-year-old man was killed after he was hit by an unknown vehicle on the La Grange Public Road, West Bank Demerara on Tuesday night.
The dead man has been identified as Imran Abdul of Lot 24 Unity Street, La Grange, WBD.
Based on Police reports, Abdul left his brother’s Goed Fortuin, WBD home some time about 21:00h and headed home on foot.
He was walking south along the eastern side of the road en route to his residence when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle which was proceeding south along the eastern side of the road at a fast rate of speed. The incident occurred about 21:40h.
As a result of the collision, the Abdul fell onto the eastern parapet where he received injuries to his head and back, and the unknown vehicle drove away.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition and escorted to West Demerara Regional Hospital by the police where he was seen, examined, and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
The body is presently lying at Ezekiel Funeral Parlor awaiting post mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing.
