A Number 69 Village, Corentyne, Berbice resident was released on $100,000 bail after he was slapped with a larceny charge when he appeared at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.

Raymond Roopnauth, 31, pleaded not guilty to the charge. It is alleged that he stole items from 73-year-old pensioner Joegashwar Persaud of No 70 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. The offence was allegedly committed between March 12, 2021, and June 2021.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement said that the charge was filed under Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act. Roopnauth will make another court appearance on September 2, 2021, before Magistrate Alex Moore.
