A 39-year-old resident of Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo) is now in Police custody after he was busted with 70 grams of cannabis while walking on the Takutu Bridge at the border crossing between Guyana and Brazil.
Based on reports received, Police ranks were on a mobile unit and while in the vicinity of the Takutu Bridge, the suspect was seen walking but upon spotting the Police, he reportedly dropped a bag and attempted to flee.

However, the bag was retrieved and upon checking it contained the illegal substance. The man was subsequently arrested and is being processed for court.
