Local NGO hosts spring fashion show, empowerment conference

A newly-formed organisation, Empowering to Lead with Confidence (ELC), on Sunday hosted the first of its kind runway show that saw the participation of both local and international speakers.

The presentations focused on empowering individuals to live a life of purpose in order to build a generation of men and women who understand their worth and who are unwilling to compromise their character and uniqueness for the appeasement of others.
The event was held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, where one of the International spokespersons, Sebrena Sumarah Kelly, who is a global ambassador, speaker, TV and radio host, explained that her words are used to guide and more so, on how to implement her teachings in their lives.
She highlighted that in the USA, she was brought up in a business environment and was never afraid of competition.
“I am in competition with myself”, therefore, information that was given to the audience was from her “life experience”. “We must always remember to [do] three things; to embrace yourself, embracing your all, and embracing your authentic view,” Kelly said.

Meanwhile, Krystal Tomlinson, an author, empowerment speaker and TV host, who also spoke at the conference, explained her theme “unleashing the power of you,” which she interpreted to mean “getting into beast mode” whereby “people need to move in a direction to transform their lives by providing actionable steps”.
Tomlinson further stated that “we need to get up, get moving and kill fear” adding key points on how to succeed in life “choice, focus, no and La Grenouille” she said. In closing, she revealed that a high performer is not afraid to be wrong and urged persons to carry that perspective through life.
After the conference, there was the unleashing of a spring fashion show, followed by a few performances and networking cocktail. Further, part of the proceeds of this event will help to provide art and music supplies to underprivileged children and schools.
The event is the first of its kind to be hosted and, therefore, it is expected to be an annual event which features local and international stylists, makeup artists along with other sponsors and stakeholders.
