Man paid to drill water wells charged for fraud

Forty-one-year-old Shizam Mohan of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara was on Friday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Judy Latchman on three fraud charges.
The accused, a father of two, denied that on May 30, 2018, while on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, he, being solely entrusted by Pashon Bharat with the sum of $310,000 for the purpose of drilling a water well at Long Creek, fraudulently converted the money to his own use and benefit.
He also denied the allegation that between May 20 and 24, 2018, at Orange Walk, Georgetown, while being solely entrusted by Omwati Bharat with the sum of $110,000 for the purpose of drilling a well at Long Creek, he fraudulently converted the money to his own use and benefit.
And then he denied the allegation that on the same day, he was also given $10,000 by John Bharat for the purpose of drilling a well at Long Creek, but fraudulently converted the money to his own use and benefit.
He was placed on $300,000 bail, and the case was adjourned to September 7.
