Man shot over cattle/rice dispute in Berbice

A cattle farmer is now a patient of the New Amsterdam Hospital after he was shot twice at his Manchester, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) home.
Injured is Glenroy Collins, 27, a cattle farmer. Reports are Collins was shot during a dispute over his cattle rearing in the suspect’s rice field, destroying thousands of dollars of rice. This newspaper was told that the shooting occurred on Saturday morning.
The suspect is in Police custody. However, they were unable to locate the weapon.
Earlier this year, several cattle were poisoned as rice farmers retaliated to the destruction of their crop by animals.
