Man shot, robbed of $4M at horse race betting shop

A Herstelling Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man was on Wednesday afternoon shot and robbed of some $4 million in cash at a horse race betting shop on Robb Street, Georgetown.
Terry Persaud, 60, was shot about 15:00h by a lone gunman.
Persaud was at the shop placing bets when the gunman approached and demanded that he hand over his haversack, which contained the money.
However, the man refused, so the bandit whipped out a gun and shot him to his right thigh.
The bandit then grabbed the haversack and escaped on a black motorcycle, which was parked on Robb Street.
The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was presently receiving medical attention. An investigation has been launched.
