Mayor Holland moves to resuscitate cricket in Linden

– Regal sport assists

Linden Mayor Carwyn Holland disclosed that they are in the process of resuscitating the sport of cricket in the Mining Town, during a presentation by Regal Stationery and Computer Centre to the recently formed club, Capital Football Club.
A quantity of sporting gears including cricket bats, balls, gloves, pads, footballs, badminton racquets, volleyballs and volleyball nets were handed over to the Linden-based club at Regal Stationery and Computer Centre in Seaforth Street, Campbellville on Friday.

Holland extended gratuitous remarks on behalf of Capital FC. He said, “We are very pleased by the presentation by Regal and are also happy to have them onboard as a sponsor.”
Speaking on the club’s footballing future, he said, “We are hoping that within a few months, hopefully, they can be propelled into the number one club status Linden.”
Meanwhile, the Mayor disclosed that Linden recently had a cricket game with a massive turnout of over 200-plus spectators actively enjoying the encounter.
Several players from across Linden: Mckenzie, Wismar; inclusive of Old England and Spike Land came out and had a fun time playing for the Vincent Adams Trophy. Adams was a former national player from Linden.
In closing, he told Guyana Times Sport there are plans for an enticing Twenty20 match scheduled for April or May where national players will be included, which will serve as another catalyst to inspire and push the revival of the sport.
