Mc Gill Super Stars Sports Club wing out for tour of Barbados

…Persaud optimistic of team’s performance

Members of the Mc Gill Super Stars Sports Club departed Guyana’s shores on Friday for Barbados, where they will be competing against five Barbadian clubs in fixtures from July 4th to July 11th, 2022.

The team is scheduled to arrive home on July 12, and captain Sudesh Persaud has said he is optimistic that his side can maintain a perfect record. he mentioned that he is very confident in his unit, and thinks they can return to Guyana with a perfect record from Barbados.
He also said the pitches in Barbados are very different from those in Guyana, and players will have to adapt to the conditions as quickly as possible if they are going to have a positive impact for the club.

The Mc Gill Super Stars contingent has four former Guyana Under-19 players in Travis Persaud, Kheshram Seyhodan, Narendra Persaud and Daniel Basdeo. Off-spinner Abdul Razack has been one of the go-to bowlers for Mc Gill over the years, and he will be one to look out for in Barbados. Young leg spinner Ganesh Puran is also one of the players who might have a big impact in Barbados.
Veterans Sudesh Persaud (C) and Balram Aron are the experienced campaigners in the set-up, and are expected to share their knowledge and expertise with the young and talented group.
This Sports Club is one of the top clubs on the West Demerara Cricket Association Club Panel, the well-established club having been in existence for 30-plus years and boasting ownership of more than 10 WDCA titles.
Mc Gill previously toured Barbados in 1994, 1995 and 1996, and decided that a tour to Barbados was long overdue.
The tour was made possible due to the generosity of some prominent businessmen, former members of the club, current members of the club, and residents of Canal #1 Polder.
