Michael Joseph’s double sinks Rupununi

As was expected, fierce competition ensued when Bartica and the Rupununi clashed at the Aranaputa Playfield in Annai, North Rupununi, on Saturday in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Boys’ Under-13 ATC Challenge Trophy.

But it was the visiting team that emerged victorious by 3 goals to 1, thanks to a double from Michael Joseph and one off the boot of Rockcliff Adamson.
It was young Adamson who opened the scoring in the 11th minute when his chipped shot caught the Rupununi goalkeeper off the line. But the hosts soon replied with a goal of their own by way of a clean finish by Josh Glasgow at the end of a rebound off the Bartica goalkeeper. But it was two infringements that afforded the visitors a free kick just outside the box and a penalty kick, both of which were finished with high class by Joseph, to give the Bartica boys the victory.

Bartica now sit on six points from three matches, with one more group match to be played next Saturday at home against the West Demerara FA team.
