Miner, woman attacked robbed of car

Police are investigating a robbery committed on a 35-year-old gold miner and a 29-year-old female, at Ogle seawall, Greater Georgetown.
Reports are that Cleveland Mentore of Area ‘Y’, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD), and Shelly Thomas, a care giver, of Industry, ECD were on the Ogle Seawall in the vicinity of Shell Gas Station in motorcar, PLL 2315.
In a statement on Tuesday Police said at about 21:30h on Monday a male of Amerindian man and another male of African descent, who was armed with a handgun, confronted them. The duo told police that could not recognise the men, since both of them were dressed in black and were wearing face masks.
Upon seeing the handgun Mentrose ran away and at a safe distance and pelted a glass bottle in the direction of the suspects. However, the suspect with the handgun fired two shots in his direction, while the Amerindian man approached Thomas and robbed her. The suspects then drove away with the car. Additionally, they escaped with one 32″ Samsung television valued at $140,000; one stabiliser value $12,000; one speaker box valued at $12,000; and two cellular phones – a Samsung A2 Core valued at $30,000 and a Samsung Galaxy 8 note value $200,000, which were all in the car.
No one was injured, and no one has been arrested up to media time on Tuesday. Investigations are ongoing.
