Mon Repos man busted with gun, ammo, narcotics

A 21-year-old resident of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara was on Wednesday taken into custody following the discovery of a firearm, several rounds of ammunition, and a quantity of ganja and cocaine at and in proximity to his residence.
Police have said that ranks acting on information received went to the home of the suspect and conducted a search, which unearthed one transparent plastic bag containing a quantity of marijuana and a whitish rocklike substance.
He was told of the offence, cautioned, and arrested.
However, based on further information, the suspect was escorted to an area away from the house, where a plastic bag containing one 9mm pistol with two matching rounds of ammunition in the magazine were found.
Additionally, a further search in another clump of bushes unearthed one five-gallon bucket containing a quantity of cannabis.
This suspect was escorted to the Sparendaam Police Station, where the narcotics found in the bucket were weighed and amounted to 3,532 grams. The ganja found in the transparent bag amounted to 13 grams, while the cocaine amounted to 0.5 grams.
The suspect remains in custody, pending charges.
