Mr and Miss African Roots Pageant 2018 Contestants to be unveiled on July 14

The sixteen contestants vying for the title of Mr and Miss African Roots will be unveiled at the Umana Yana, Kingston, Georgetown, on July 14. Eight of the delegates will compete in the Teen category while the other eight will clash in the Young Adult category.

At the launch on July 14, the delegates will be sashed with the respective country they will feature and also they will have an opportunity to market themselves for the grand coronation set for August 5 in the auditorium of Queens College.
The 16 delegates were chosen from the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam); Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), and Georgetown.
On the night of the grand coronation, the delegates will compete in an introduction segment where they will be decked in their creative wear, swim wear, talent, evening wear and intelligence segment. In addition, they will make a presentation on the respective countries they represent.
At the end of the various competitions, the King and Queen will be crowned as well as the First and second Prince and Princesses. The reigning Kings and Queens are Stephan Johnson, Richard Layne, Tonya Harris and Keisha Braze.
After the launch, the contestants will undergo rigorous training and make several media appearances. They will have numerous photoshoots leading up to the pageant. Tickets for the grand launch on July 14 cost $3000 (VIP) and $2000 general admission and these can be uplifted from Kelton Jennings, who can be contacted on telephone number 656-7499.
