Murder accused in 2012 Edun Poultry Farms killing set free

Six months after a jury could not decide e his fate, Mahindra Bishundial, who is accused of killing an Edun Poultry Farms and Hatchery truck driver, was set free on Thursday after the prosecution failed to make out a case at a second trial.
Aga Khan was killed during an alleged robbery in 2012, but Bishundial, called “Tyrone”, of Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was able to walk out of the High Court unshackled after Judge Sandil Kissoon upheld a no-case submission by Attorney Nigel Hughes.
Justice Kissoon outlined on Thursday that the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case against the accused. As such, the jury returned a formal not-guilty verdict, which means that the former murder accused will be able to spend Christmas with his family. However, it will be the seventh Christmas since 57-year-old Khan was killed on November 6, 2012 at Busby Dam, Craig, ECD, when he was confronted by several bandits, who demanded that he hand over a bag. It was reported that after complying with the order, Khan was shot dead.
Bishundial’s previous trial had ended in a hung jury in June. State Attorneys Orinthia Schmidt and Lisa Cave prosecuted the second case.
