Residents of Block 22, Wismar, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) say they want answers as to who made a decision to end the area’s access road in front of the home of Regional Executive Officer (REO), Gavin Clarke.
Residents say they have waited years for a “proper” road and now that it has been constructed, it is only benefiting a selected few.
One resident Owen DeSouza disclosed he have contacted the Regional Chairman, Renis Morian who told him Region 10 was only allocated the construction of 10 roads, so Block 22 was “fortunate to have one”.
Many residents are questioning the authenticity of the Council since the road has ended just at the residence of the REO.
“I think he just push for this road so it could accommodate him. You don’t see is right where he live the road end?” one resident queried.
The road was constructed shortly after First Lady Sandra Granger visited the community and reassured the residents that she would look in to addressing the deplorable state of the town’s thoroughfares.
