Guyanese cyclist Aaron Newton has signed with United States-based outfit Foundation Cycling, continuing a growing pathway for local riders into the international arena.
Newton, a former three-time Junior National Champion from 2021 to 2023, joins the programme after an impressive rise through the domestic ranks, capped by a rewarding 2025 season in which he captured both the Elite National Road Race and Time Trial titles. His progression was further highlighted on the regional stage with a silver medal performance at the 2025 Caribbean Championships.

Now based in the United States, the young rider said the move represents a significant step in his development as he looks to test himself against higher-level competition.
Newton noted that cycling has been his focus since age 14, when he first followed his father into the sport, and described the opportunity with Foundation Cycling as a proud moment in his career.
He becomes the latest Guyanese to link with the team, following in the footsteps of Jamual John, who previously rode with the programme during his own stint overseas. Newton’s addition also marks him as a second-generation rider within the Foundation setup.
