The talented man from Ulverston Village also bagged all six sprint prizes at stake, displaying his power and skill as 14 riders from the Ancient County battled for bragging rights.
Another We Stand United rider, Andrew Hicks claimed second, followed by Jason Cameron and Mario Washington in that order for the senior riders. Washington, a Flying Ace cyclist who has shown form across all races in 2021 so far, also claimed the top spot in the junior category. In the veterans’ category, Travis Cipriani claimed the top spot while Myron Rose rode in second, announcing his return to cycling in grand style. Veteran Gary Benjamin, who recently returned to the roadways, claimed third place in the masters category.
The exciting race, which was organised by the Randolph Roberts-led Flying Ace Cycling Club, was an accident-free event, which saw the Guyana Police Force with an all-hands-on-deck approach. The cycling organisers expressed gratitude to the GPF and the National COVID-19 task force. (Brandon Corlette)
