Pedestrian killed in Soesdyke accident

Chandrapaul Persaud of Lot 53 Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara succumbed to injuries he sustained when a vehicle, reportedly being driven by an intoxicated man, struck him down on the Soesdyke Public Road in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to reports reaching Guyana Times, the driver of motor car PVV 1923 was proceeding north along the western carriageway of the East Bank Demerara road when the 47-year-old Chandrapaul, who was proceeding south along the eastern side of the road, dashed into the path of the moving vehicle.
He sustained several injuries about the body, and was immediately rushed to the Diamond Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver was subjected to a breathalyser test which determined his blood alcohol level to be above the legal limit. Accordingly, he was taken into Police custody, where he remains as investigation continues.
