Reports had stated that the unidentified man, called “Buckman”, resided in Barr Street, Kitty, Georgetown. However, efforts to contact his family on Monday proved futile, as residents seemed unfamiliar with the now dead man.

Meanwhile, Guyana Times on Monday visited the family of motorcyclist Frank De Florimonde Jr, 25, of Lot 61 Fourth Street, Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara (ECD), who also perished in the accident. This publication was informed that a Post-Mortem Examination (PME) on De Florimonde’s body was scheduled for Wednesday, as Police continued their investigation into the accident.

According to reports received, De Florimonde was riding with his friends when he collided with a reportedly drunken pedestrian, who was attempting to cross the road.

Speaking with this newspaper on Monday, family members of De Florimonde described the motorcyclist as a caring young man who always supported his parents.

His father, Frank De Florimonde Sr, who lives about two blocks away from his son’s home, explained that the younger De Florimonde would visit him frequently at his home where they would sit and engage in long conversations.

“Junior was a nice person, quiet and nice to me. [We were] very close: he used to visit me every day; once he home, he would come over and visit,” the grieving father related.

The man, who was at times unable to hold back his tears, told Guyana Times that “Junior” was his only son. Meanwhile, the dead man’s younger sister, Shirene De Florimonde described her brother as always giving and looking out for his siblings and younger cousins.

“He quiet, don’t really talk much, tek after daddy; he don’t drink, don’t smoke. He good with everybody – a good person,” the sister noted.

She also recalled how she was informed of her brother’s demise.

“I was at the movies and I just saw my phone lighting up and decided to check and it was my other sister sent a text saying that my brother just crash up… somebody else called me and told me that they see somebody that look like me brother and they think he died and I went there and I saw he,” she further explained.

“Da is we big brother, he does look after mommy,” the sobbing young woman stated.

His mother was tired and too distraught to speak with this newspaper, and it was explained that she has been “drinking a lot” since she learnt of her son’s demise.

De Florimonde’s father had told this publication on Sunday: “I called my son and asked him where he was and he told me that he bathing. He didn’t tell me he was going out on the seawall. I does tell this boy not to ride speed, but he don’t hear… He does do this for fun. You know how these young people stay.”

Frank De Florimonde Jr lived alone and worked in construction and from time to time worked in the interior. Guyana Times was also told on Sunday that the motorcyclist pitched off his bike, while the pedestrian was dragged a short distance away before ending up on the parapet.
